Heart Pine engineered, code approved for direct concrete application. Solid is not code approved. Sure solid is cheaper- we could run 1/2" solid for cheap, BUT in 3 years or less it would be jumping off the slab! We are now being asked to make replacement matching flooring for these "cheap slab applied solids made by ? ". In a lot of cases we are doing only sections as the cost of removal of this junk is very high. Once again "you get what you paid for". Our engineered has a thick wear layer down to the tongue and groove- so you can sand as many times as solid. BUT it is a lot more stable AND it is harder as we hot press it in the manufacturing process. Summary, Harder, no cup or warp, No loose knots ever, More expensive than solid.
Thicfk wear layer, available in 5" and 7" widths, 96" long and shorter. No one else offers this quality in these widths and lengths. Short uniform lengths look like a cheap laminate floor!
Import engineered generally has 1/2 or less thickness in the wear layer, a toxic finish, and a much softer base, but because you are buying it from a middleman, it may be more expensive!
